Queen of peace, Comforter of the afflicted, pray for us.

Please Pray for Veterans

Please continue to remember in your prayers all of our wounded veterans and homeless veterans.  Many of them are victims of post-traumatic stress (PTSD) and wounded from battle in body, mind, and spirit.
Through the intercession of Blessed Mother Mary, please pray for our veterans who are inpatients and outpatients in VA hospitals.  They have given so much to defend our freedoms and to protect those in need around the world.  We are very grateful for their lives of service.

camouflage rosary

A great way to support our Catholic veterans is to make rosaries for them.  If you want to donate these sacramentals, we know that the veterans would certainly appreciate them.  They are able to use camouflage cord rosaries made from *Desert Camo twine* and a black plastic crucifix.

Knotted cord rosaries are especially good in a hospital setting since they can be taken into MRI /scan machines.  The soft knots do not cause discomfort or break if the rosary is kept in a bed for a patient to pray during the night.

Recently we received a letter from Father Hannigan, a Catholic chaplain at the VA hospital in Phoenix, Arizona:

“Veterans from the wars in Korea, Vietnam, Iraq and Afghanistan have really appreciated receiving these rosaries that you have sent us here in Phoenix.  Thank you very much.
Know that it brought added smiles when they remembered seeing these rosaries while they were in Iraq or Afghanistan.  They really deeply appreciate them and use them.  Smiles come on their faces when they hear how long it takes to make such a rosary.  It means a lot to our veterans that people care enough about them to go to such extent to cord these rosaries and that also they are praying for them while they are making the rosaries.”

If interested, you can give these sacramentals to Catholic veterans via Fr. Hannigan in Phoenix.  We know that Fr will put to good use any camo cord rosaries that are sent his way!

This is his current address at the hospital:

Fr. John Hannigan
Catholic Chaplain
VA Medical Center
650 E. Indian School Road
Phoenix AZ 85012

Anyone who is about to mail a package there may send us an email through Seat of Wisdom and we will alert Fr Hannigan.

Please send either the standard five-decade corded rosaries or one-decade chaplet size according to the directions below.  (Please do not send any plastic beaded rosaries.)  Scapulars would be appreciated as well.

One-Decade Cord Rosary:

one-decade cord rosary

Follow instuctions for making a full-size corded rosary, but modify as follows:

Start with five (5) feet of #36 rosary twine.

At the halfway point, make ten Hail Mary knots in a row.

Turn the cord around.  Going in the opposite direction, make a barrel knot for the Our Father.

Bring the two sides together, lining up the Hail Mary knot closest to the end of the cord with the Our Father knot on the opposite side.

Join with a Hail Holy Queen barrel knot.  (The three Hail Mary's at the beginning of the rosary may be prayed on this knot as well.)

Attach the crucifix with another barrel knot for the first Our Father.

Cut the cord and seal the ends.

Prayers for Easter

We are proud to serve those who make our country great.
Since 2006 our group has been sending care packages of camouflage rosaries, scapulars, Bibles, catechisms, and good books to troops serving our country in war zones and troops preparing for deployment.  Our benefactors include Knights of Columbus, police and firefighters, Catholic families and individuals from across the USA.  Our Lady, Seat of Wisdom is our patron saint.  We are here to support our troops and our veterans in spirit as they have given so much for us.

We are a small group of volunteer civilians who offer our gifts and services on our own initiative.  In compliance with DoD regulations, contributions made through this site have not been requested or endorsed by any federal employee, active duty servicemember or branch of the military.
